New Beginnings

Its been a long time world but i have started a new period in my life - The Quarter Life Crisis.

The worlds Fashion weeks are coming to a close all around us, but more importantly it is the start of my fashion year. A few weeks ago I embarked on a much awaited holiday. Packed up all my favourite clothes, my teeny-weeny bikinis including my ridiculously priced navy Heidi Klein number. Downloaded trash to read onto my kindle and even trashier programmes to watch on my i-pad. Two weeks of total relaxation trashing out doing my favourite things; sunning, drinking, eating, sleeping and dancing on tables.

Within hours however these dreams were quite literally robbed from us. From the airport we drove into the city to waste some time before being able to check into our airbnb villa. In true holiday style our first port of call was to have a drink in the sun around a pool in a fun bar for an hour. An hour of total bliss with two more weeks of it to look forward to.
At the precise moment I leant back in the plastic weave chair that’s never as comfy as it should be, saying calmly “na, I don’t think I have travel insurance” was the moment our hire car was having its rear window smashed in and every single one of our suitcases being re-housed to some ballsy thief. Leaving the six of us with nothing but a tom-tom (circa 2004), one denuim jacket and a pair of lace up boots all covered in shattered glass from our now ruined hire car. They obviously weren’t in the business for lace up boots in 30 degrees heat and an out of date tom-tom.

So there we have it the first day of our holiday now with just the clothes on our back and the contents of our pockets.

However we must all learn to rise above mis-fortune and create our own success. And so i will try!

From this moment forth i shall look to re-design my wardrobe, investing in quality not quantity and style not slouch. I working towards becoming an entrepreneur and develop my lifestyle brand.

Maison du Posh!

Last weekend the girls were in need of some retail therapy, so after a naughty nip into H&M where too many pennies were spent,  but a killer pair of shoes purchased, we headed on down to Selfridges. A tactical shopping technique, as the money had already been spent while still mooching around the affordable store as opposed to our pockets burning while surrounded by label heaven and being drawn into over-priced out-of-reach articles that i "really need" anyway phew all unnecessary expenditures were avoided. However these claw ring clasp clutches by Maison Du Posh tempted us towards that horrible shoppers guilt moment but we stood strong.
Never the less I WANT ONE!

London Fashion Week looming

Its been 5 months since the last London Fashion Week, with the buzz at work as well as in my social calendar growing, with the next one coming up in less that a month, it is all getting very real and exciting, if not a little scary. As i am a little concerned as to wether everything is gonna get done on time here. Im sure it will be fine, it always comes together. Anyway besides Clemency London another designer that particularly caught my eye was Felicity Brown, with her continual use of layering silks to create really sculptural beautiful pieces. I later found out when we returned back to uni that week after LFW last February that Felicity Brown was in fact a class mate of one of my tutors! Small world hey!
Anyway i'm keeping an eye peeled for her stuff again this time round, and hopefully see her new work. Here are just a few pictures from her past/present collections.
Or Check out her BFC profile @ http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk

Wedding Fever!

There is serious wedding fever going on in my house at the moment, with my step-sisters big white wedding on sunday, shit thats tomorrow, and at the moment everything that could go wrong has gone wrong including the beautiful cotswold hotel where the reception is, having scaffolding surrounding it entirely, she was Not a happy bunny. Then Next week is the celebrations of my Mum's wedding with a ceremony and a big party 2 days later. However this is the funky Moroccan themed wedding instead of the traditional shit and shabang. I've got myself a beautiful sari to wear which i am so excited about, i was worried that i would just look like a white girl in a sari, which i never think looks good, but its ok, i mean yes i am a white girl wearing a sari but i don't look like a white girl trying to be indian wearing a sari. Does that make sense? well anyway you can make your own opinion next week.

As for the wedding fever, its been polluting the whole world since april when we all witnessed what can only be described as the real life fairytale wedding. The Royal Wedding. Now those of you who don't know i absolutely adore Kate Middleton, my future plan is to become just like her. Beautiful, graceful, timeless,  elegant, understated, modest...anyway the list is endless in complimentary characteristics. She is my idol!

Anyway back to Wedding fever, with my step sister Kate's wedding only tomorrow the other 2 "Weddings Of The Year" in my opinion are the other 2 Kate's in my life; Kate Middleton and kate Moss. Both weddings were completely different, but my favourite aspect of both were the same. The Bridesmaids/Flower girls.

The royal wedding saw Pippa Middletons impeccably designed Sarah Burton bridesmaids dress, and the beautiful flower girls with flower hair garlands, as Kate Moss's wedding saw an array of 14 Flower girls in sweet summer dresses and Hair garlands too, all in white (apart from Kate Moss' other bridesmaid in blue). Well done to the Kates. I now want a completely white bridal party with hippie hair garlands for all. (for my imaginary wedding i'm cooking up in my head this is, i promise i'm not being psycho gf weirdo! Its hard not to think about it when your surrounded by it 24/7)

Anyhow here are just a few sample snappys of my favourite brides and their entourages as well as a few flowery extras i would stick in my hypothetical wedding ideas book. (Disclaimer: I do NOT i repeat NOT actually have one)

The Royal Kiss
Pippa's beautifully simple dress

Night Dress
How could i miss out a cake this beautiful too.

Loved Kate's outfit the night before too!

Note bridesmaid with long dress behind that echoes Kates, i'm led to believe its her younger sister, interesting, could she be the next model of the family?

Couldn't Resist!

Yes ok, so i know i literally just wrote that i wasn't gonna blog until next month but now that i've done one i just wanna do another, and couldn't resist.

So being at home there is a tendency to slob out and switch the TV on and become comfortable in your square eyed skin, however since i've been home our ariel has broken so there has been no such luck for me. But yesterday i remembered the wonders of 4oD, aahhhhhhh wonderful! so as i had a moment to myself i decided to watch Dirty Sexy Things! Its Great and I Love Perou. My to-do list has grown again, next addition is must watch other episodes of Dirty Sext Things and submerge myself into a world of beautiful people, which is potentially not that far away in reality.

At the moment Charlotte's my favourite, gotta love a girl who just enjoys being naked! and to be honest if i had a bod like that my god i would love being naked too! As for BB he really is Beautiful, however that does not excuse the ridiculous name that stands for Black Beauty apparently, i liked the name it until he said that. Hey, at least its true though, imagine if he was called BB and was neither black nor beautiful, then i'd have and issue with it.

Oh and i Love Perou's assistant Clara Maidment, anyway here is a shot of the man himself at work with the models from the first episode and a few of his previous pieces work of the beautiful, rich and famous. Including 2 of my favourite rich and famous; Sienna Miller and Matthew McConaughey.

Summer Vacation

Since my last post i have been through a whirlwind of celebrations, i had my finals, then graduation parties and university celebrations, birthdays, Parklife festival, university goodbyes, ibiza, dinners, carnivals, punting, more birthdays, malta, graduation, sports, family and with more family fun and weddings to come! hence the absence.

I now am home for 2 weeks where i am running endless errands which are frequently interrupted by an hour long phone call from my grandmother in which she doesn't even draw for breath. As she exercises her jaw the only exercise i do is switching the phone from ear to ear as it gets too hot being chewed off from her wise (although suspect) ramblings.

After wedding celebrations my life has a quick turnaround as i embark on the new chapter of my life. Im moving to London (although homeless at the moment, its on my to-do list; 1, Find somewhere to crash/live/house-sit/anything. URGENT!) To begin my internship at Clemency London, check out their blog as the website is still under construction at the moment. So this should be really exciting and seeing the ins and outs of fashion design and the chaos of the run-up to and madness of London Fashion Week. I cannot wait, but as my supportive family say, yes Sophie you probably will get really good at making tea and coffee.

So the moral of the story is that i have had a summer off the world of blogging as i have been having frankly too much fun, and want to leave it until i begin my next chapter when i will have daily news and updates from a homeless pennyless intern!

But for now a few snaps from the hols.
