Couture eat your heart out!

i experienced a horrible moment of realisation sitting in a lecture today, as i thought to myself how i have wasted the last 3 years when i could have taken advantage of the technology that was available to me and become the next Coco Chanel or Vivienne Westwood creating couture sensations. As what i really wanted to do in my design project was explore the use of dysfunctional materials for fashion, looking at work by designers like Paco Rabanne, who use plastic, metal, paper and even chocolate as their medium.  Recently saw the conflict over Franc Fernandez’s  infamous meat dress worn by Lady GaGa, personally yeah bit gross but nice cut i suppose (no pun intended)!

Imagine wearing these next dresses to the ball!

Safety first!

Condom dresses by Brazilian artist Adriana Bertini, made of thousands of quality-control-rejected condoms. Shown at “Dress Up Against AIDS: Condom Couture,” an exhibition at UCLA’s Fowler Museum.

Skittles Taste the Rainbow

This pastry chef made his wife's wedding dress made out of 1,500 cream puff's and caramelised sugar, weighing only 20 pounds and taking 2 months to create.

I absolutely LOVE the dress made of old newspapers, not so much a fan of the washing bags.

Ideal if you get caught short!
Dress made entirely out of toilet roll.

Lets hope it doesn't get hot when wearing these designs created out of chocolate by the famous designer Paco Rabanne. I hate to admit it but these wouldn't last a minute with me.
As for these dresses made out of balloons you wouldn't want these to pop.

Fits like a glove!

Fancy Champagne and Cupcakes?

I absolutely love this short video of Kate Moss with her "friends", coincidence that they're all leggy models, i think not! All i'm saying Kate is that i have kinda long legs so next time just drop me a text and i'll see if i'm free. Anyway i find the filming enchanting, i love the lighting and dusty haze of the picture. Have a peak. Hanging out with Kate Moss!

Cover me!

Becky from the Scott Mills show on Radio 1 enlightened me to the amazing singing comedy duo Frisky and Mannish while sharing her show and tell on the air. They perform covers of song in a completely unexpected style. They're brilliant! Frisky and Mannish were formed in March 2008 by writers and performers Laura Corcoran and Matthew Jones.

A friend of mine has a band, secret pilot. Check them out. Similarly here's a cover they did of the one and only babe Rihanna with What's my name. Enjoy.

To Dye!

To Dye or Not to Dye?

two years ago i woke up one day and felt compelled to cut all my hair off! i went from a long mane of curls to a short bob.

So much hair!

To above the shoulder bob!

What! It's all gone!

Yesterday i came across the blog Le Happy and have been inspired by the girl who writes it to change my hair. So i did i went and got it cut spare of the moment. However i still have a burning desire to dye it red. I absolutely love the colour of her hair.

There are so many reasons why i shouldn't do it. It has taken me 3 years to get back to my original colour after a rather expensive and long mistake involving Sun In! Never use Sun In. Instead of looking like a beach babe my hair went orange and when i tried to rectify the situation later it turned bright purple instead of chestnut brown. Error!

hard to tell - but it is actually ORANGE!
Most disturbing part - i actually liked it at the time!

So anyway it has taken 3 years to get my hair back to a longer length and back to its original colour. Do i fuck it all up by dyeing it bright red? Or leave it natural? - it looks nice as it is, just pure boredom of how i look is urging on this spontaneous desire for change.

I have tried weighing it up in my head.
PRO'S
1, it MIGHT look really good (very uncertain however hence the stress on "MIGHT")
2, last time i can potentially just dye my hair like this, as i will have to be professional from the summer onwards.
3, i can't really think of anymore.

CON'S
1, could look really really bad.
2, if it goes wrong have to dye it back brown and will loose natural colour.
3, Roots!

My other alternative is maybe just dip dye it red.

I'll let you know!

Back to a simpler way of life!

With the beaming rays of warm sunshine hitting my shoulders, nostalgic summer memories are filling my head! Last summer was a summer full of festivals, despite this summer looking to be quite different i still can not wait to open the "everything" cupboard at home and take out my beautiful tent! Instead of focussing on my work i find myself day dreaming about basking in the sun lying on beer soaked grass outside my tent surrounded by other happy festival go-ers. With my anklets decorating my shoeless feet and beads hanging off my every limb, flowers tied into my hair and clothes that flow off my body in a gracious innocent way yet utterly seductive.

Let the fun begin!
